Congratulations Prof. Cafer Yavuz!

​"The Korean Academy of Science and Technology & S-oil Best Thesis Advisor 2021" Award is given to only 10 advisor/student pairs per year spanning all scientific disciplines. It is considered the best award for Ph.D. students in Korea. The advisor is duly recognized and expected to run for the academy membership soon.

Prof. Cafer recently joined KAUST as a Professor of Chemical Science and is a member of Advanced Membranes and Porous Materials and KAUST Catalysis Center research centers.

Prof. Yavuz's research interests focus on developing sustainable nano & porous materials chemistry to address global challenges in the environment, particularly those related to CO2, water, and methane. His current projects include dry reforming methane for circular carbon economy, CO₂ capture with tethered amines, CO₂ conversion to cyclic carbonates, water capture from air, methane storage in porous polymers, and electrocatalytic splitting, electronic waste recycling, seawater mining, and micropollutant removal from water.
