Congratulations Xiangming!

17 July, 2019

KAUST PhD Student Xiangming Xu has won the Young Researcher Award at the 12th International Symposium on Flexible Organic Electronics 1-4, July 2019, Thessaloniki, Greece

Xiangming, who is a PhD student in the group of Prof. Husam N. Alshareef,  won the best oral presentation award among participating young researchers. He made an oral presentation covering his work on wafer-level scaling of 2D semiconductors.  His work was recently published in Advanced Functional Materials and he was granted a patent for the new process that he has developed.   Xiangming' s new process has been adapted to grow atomic layers of various types of 2D materials including, 2D semiconductors, 2D superconductors, and 2D electrical contacts.

"Xiangming  is a careful researcher who has succeeded in developing scalable technology for depositing single crystal 2D materials at the wafer scale", said Prof. Alshareef.

Xiangming next task is to take advantage of this large area deposition to fabricate synaptic devices, sensors, and quantum devices taking advantage of the large area deposition process.
