Congratulations Professor Osman!

KAUST Professor of Material Science and Engineering and member of the KAUST Catalysis CenterOsman M. Bakr, has been named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC).  

Founded in 1841, the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) is the United Kingdom’s professional body for chemical scientists and the largest organization in Europe for advancing the chemical sciences. The designation Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) is given to elected Fellows who have made outstanding contributions to the chemical sciences or to the advancement of the chemical sciences as a profession.


Research
Professor Bakr's research interests are concerned with the physics and chemistry of hybrid materials. His group studies the synthesis and assembly of organic–inorganic hybrid materials and nanomaterials of novel optical and electronic properties. The purpose of these studies is to fabricate advanced material building blocks for solar cells and optoelectronic devices.
 
 
Prior to his FRSC admission, Professor Osman was recognized with the Asian Rising Stars Lectureship, awarded with the 2020 Shoman Award and the 2020 Almarai Distinguished Scientist Award, and named one of 2020 Highly Cited Researchers of the Web of Science Highly Cited Researchers.
