Eddaoudi named Distinguished Professor

Prof. Eddaoudi grew up in Morocco, he obtained a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Ibnou Zohr University, Agadir, Morocco, an M.S. in Materials Analysis and a Ph.D. in Chemistry at Denis Diderot University, Paris, France.

His research group focuses on the development of new strategies to design and synthesize new functional solid-state materials to address challenging societal issues such as gas storage/separation and catalysis.

Prof. Eddaoudi joined KAUST as a founding Faculty member in 2009. He is the Associate Director of the Advanced Membranes and Porous Materials Center (AMPM) and Program Chair of the Chemical Science Program.

Prof. Eddaoudi is regarded as one of the world leaders in the field of Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs). He was selected in 2014 and 2015 as a Highly Cited Researcher and as one of "The World's Most Influential Scientific minds" by Thomas Reuters. He has published over one-hundred and forty peer-reviewed manuscripts and is one of the most highly cited chemists of the past 10 years, with over 3500 citations per year.

Prof. Eddaoudi has received several awards and recognitions over the course of his career. He is actively engaged in the academic life of the Division and KAUST and is committed to ensuring KAUST students receive the highest quality of education. ​
