KAUST Core Labs Reopening

23 July, 2020

Core Labs Reopening information

This week we mark the last phase of Labs Reopening, as the University’s Core Labs began the reopening stage at the end of last month after almost four months in hibernation.

We now move to a new normal function for our users** (**an exception applies for the Nanofabrication Core Lab Cleanroom, which remains closed until further notice).

By following the 3Ws (Wash your hands, Wear a face covering and Watch your physical distancing), together we will safeguard our community as we go back to work.

We are pleased to announce that personal hygiene face shields fabricated by the Workshops Core Laboratory are now available for the KAUST research community.

The personal hygiene face shields can be used as additional protection against COVID-19—for example, from bodily fluids getting on your face or to prevent you from touching your face as a source of contamination.

How and when to use the personal hygiene face shields

The personal hygiene face shields do not replace the use of safety glasses or certified chemical face shields when working with hazardous substances in the laboratory/workplace, as they are not certified PPE. The face shields are also not a substitution for face coverings while on campus or in the workplace.
