Faculty conduct research in the following broad areas of research: structures and mechanics of solids, fluid dynamics, thermal sciences, combustion, energy, and control and dynamics.  Specialized faculty laboratories include an integrated environment dedicated to advanced composite materials, the latest high-tech instrumentation for experiments in fluid mechanics, cutting-edge equipment and facilities for combustion diagnostics, and experiment capabilities for reactive flow modeling.

Generous and secured research funding frees our faculty and researchers to focus on long-term innovative research ideas and development.

Clean Combustion Research Center
The challenges arising from the combustion of fossil fuels, such as pollution, global warming and climate change are some of the main concerns of researchers at KAUST's Clean Combustion Research Center (CCRC). The activities of the Center span a broad spectrum with both fundamental and goal-oriented research in fuel formulation, fuel diversity and the control of emissions – from internal combustion engines to turbines.
