Abstract:

For more than a century, carbon has been a primary component of energy systems that have enabled economies to prosper. But as the world seeks solutions to address the emissions challenge, the concept of a circular carbon economy has gained prominence.

Being an energy leader in a world of changing energy demand, we embrace our role to find effective energy solutions. The circular carbon economy is a pragmatic concept that can provide direction for a sustainable future.

In this talk I will discuss the concept of circular carbon economy. An overview of Saudi Aramco circular carbon economy activities will be presented.

Biography:

Dr. Mohammed Al-Juaied is a Research Science Consultant of the Technology Strategy & Planning at Saudi Aramco. His work is focused on developing climate-related technology strategies to support Saudi Aramco's sustainability business objectives. He has 25+ years R&D, technology development and commercialization, and project management experience, the majority with Saudi Aramco. He was the Chief Technologist of Carbon Management R&D Division and the Chief Technology Officer of Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures.

Mohammed received an MS degree in Petroleum Engineering and a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering, both from the University of Texas at Austin. He completed the Mason Fellow Program in Public Policy and Management at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He was also a visiting scholar at Harvard's Belfer Center with the Energy Technology Innovation Policy Research group working on the economics and policies of CCS.
