Salma Alsinan is a geophysicist and AI specialist with over a decade of experience in the energy sector. She currently serves as the AI and Advanced Computing Domain Champion at the Saudi Aramco Upstream Research Center at KAUST, where she leads the design and deployment of advanced machine learning solutions for subsurface characterization. In parallel, she is pursuing a Ph.D. in Earth Science and Engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), focusing on data-driven geoscience, with a research emphasis on uncertainty quantification and deep domain adaptation techniques for synthetic-to-field reservoir modeling.

Salma holds an M.S. in Geophysics from Stanford University and a B.Sc. in Geophysics from University College London, graduating with First Class Honors. Throughout her career at Saudi Aramco, she has led multidisciplinary projects and teams at the intersection of machine learning, geophysics, and reservoir engineering, contributing to both technological innovation and field deployment.

In addition to her technical expertise, Salma is a strong advocate for women in STEM and data science, with a longstanding commitment to increasing female participation in the energy sector. Since 2006, she has actively promoted earth science and engineering fields to high school and university students through career talks, outreach events, and mentoring programs—especially in institutions where such initiatives are limited. She is deeply passionate about creating new pathways for women to apply their skills in data science, computer science, and engineering to shape the future of energy and geoscience.

Salma is a regular speaker at international conferences in geoscience and AI and plays an active role in the professional community through memberships in SEG, EAGE, SPE, DGS, and IEEE. She has also held various leadership and technical roles across global forums, reflecting her dedication to bridging academic research with real-world impact and fostering innovation and leadership within the KAUST community.
