​The faculty of Mechanical Engineering is housed in the Physical Science and Engineering Division. Research is conducted in the following broad areas: structures and mechanics of solids, fluid dynamics, thermal sciences, combustion, energy, and control and dynamics.  Specialized faculty laboratories include an integrated environment dedicated to advanced composite materials, the latest high-tech instrumentation for experiments in fluid mechanics, cutting-edge equipment and facilities for combustion diagnostics, and experimental capabilities for reactive flow modeling.

The Physical Science and Engineering Division invites applications for faculty positions at all ranks (Assistant, Associate and Full Professor).
