The faculty of Material Science and Engineering is housed in the Physical Science and​​ Engineering Division. Research is conducted on a broad range of topics addressing fundamental and applied questions relating to material design and synthesis, energy conversion and storage, electronics and optoelectronics, magnetic materials, nanoscale characterization, and computational material science.​

The Physical Science and Engineering Division invites applications for faculty positions at all ranks (Assistant, Associate and Full Professor).

2-D Material Design, Synthesis & Properties

  • The candidate should have extensive knowledge and experience in 2D materials growth by the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method and experience with CVD systems.  This includes growth of materials such as transition metal dichalcogenides, graphene, and their heterostructures. The candidate is also expected to have experience in characterization and device applications of 2D materials.
    The successful applicant should have a proven track record in publishing high-impact papers, and is expected to establish a thriving research program. Engaging in national and international scientific collaborations is part of the KAUST spirit. Commitment to high-quality teaching at the graduate level, and active participation in the KAUST academic and community life is what makes KAUST faculty unique.

Photovoltaic Device-to-Module Integration/Engineering

  • The candidate is expected to make significant contributions in the research and development of photovoltaic solutions for the hot-climate market. Specific topics of interest are module and system reliability, minimization of cell-to-module losses, heat management and overall module design towards lowest LCOE for the hot-climate market. 

    The successful applicant should have a proven track record in publishing high-impact papers, and is expected to establish a thriving research program.
