The PSE Division wishes to recognize and support the contributions of students to academic excellence:

The Deans Office has established a monthly Award, acknowledging individual students who, by their contributions to their field, have bought distinction to themselves and to KAUST.

Students should apply as per the nomination process below.  Faculty members are also encouraged to nominate outstanding students.

Eligibility: 

    1. Only current PhD candidates in the PSE Division at KAUST are eligible to apply for this award. 

    2. Previous recipients of this award are eligible. 

    3. Awards will be made on the basis of outstanding contributions to research, future promise as a researcher, and originality, imagination and significance of research or creative activity. 

Consideration will be given to Conference Presentations/Posters, high-impact Journal Publications, patents, and scholastic awards and recognitions.

Nomination Timeline: 

    1. Complete the online nomination form and supporting summary​ by 5pm on the 10th of the month. 

    2. Self-nominations are accepted and individual students can also be nominated by faculty members. 

Each nominator must submit: 

    1. Completed online nomination form; and 

    2. Summary of research activity/project—written by the nominee—emphasizing the timeliness, significance, and uniqueness of the project including descriptions of research and creative activities.

(Must not exceed 1 page).

NOTE: No videos, binders, or other materials will be accepted.

Award recipients will be featured by:

  • A highlight article on the PSE Division Website.

  • Dinner for all the recipients with the Dean and the Associate Dean at the end of each semester.

  • Payment for one professional development opportunity (eg Travel, accommodation and attendance fees for an approved conference or training course).​​
