The National Academy of Engineering of Korea was inaugurated
in October 30th, 1995. It was established for the purpose of promoting a more
efficient development of engineering and technology. The Academy acknowledges

Professor Im was selected for his significant contributions
in theory and computational modeling of combustion phenomena. In particular, he
is recognized as one of the pioneers in direct numerical simulations (DNS) of
turbulent combustion utilizing massively parallel supercomputers since 1990s.
Since 2013, he has been a core faculty member of the Clean Combustion Research
Center at KAUST, leading the state-of-the-art computational research activities
towards advanced power generation at higher efficiencies and lower emissions.
