Congratulations to the KAUST EAGE (European
Association of Geoscientists and Engineers) student
chapter on their success in the annual online Geo-Quiz!
The KAUST team; consisting of four students
Ahmed Saad (ANPERC), Ayrat Abdullin (ErSE), Oleg Ovcharenko (ErSE), and Dias
Urozayev (ErSE) won 3rd place in this competition and qualified
for free travel grants to EAGE’s annual conference and exhibition in June in
The team competed against 38 other chapters
from around the world; the quiz counts several rounds with questions related to
different fields in the geoscience industry and students have to deal with
questions relating to geology, petroleum geoscience, geophysics, petrophysics
and drilling. The level of questions get
more difficult as they advance.
To be successful students not only put their
knowledge and skills in their particular field to the test but must also be
able to work collaboratively as a team.
Congratulations to these students for their
hard work, dedication and success!
